About…

This song aims to capture the integrity of Type One with just a hint of anger and a dash of resentment on the side. It expresses the difficulty experienced when we see the world, ourselves and others as things in need of constant improvement and highlights the defence mechanism of ‘reaction formation’ – putting one’s desires aside and channelling that energy into something ‘right’, trying to avoid being wrong. The chorus takes us to the relief experienced when we realise that we can let things be as they are, including ourselves, and that acceptance and ultimately, serenity, are gateways to presence. Lyrics

If you could see

Inside of me

It’s not a pretty sight

Things are not as they should be

Oh I’m so tired

Of fighting the good fight…but

I’ll tune in openly

There are many ways to see

I’ll let things be

Feel the serenity

I know we are one when I can see

Life’s unfolding perfectly. Perfectly…

Have to fix up any mess I come upon

So it is done properly

It’s black and white, I can’t be wrong

So hard to separate

From the judge who presides in me. Chorus

Put my desires on the shelf,

channeled ‘em into something else but

Maybe I’ll accept all of myself...

I’ll tune in openly

There is more than one way to be

I’ll tune in openly

There are many ways to see

I’ll let things be

Enjoy the serenity

I know we are one when I can see

Life’s unfolding perfectly!
