Limbo is a song about the difficulty we can all face when we are left hanging in a state of confusion by someone we love. It is a beautiful expression of the heartache of not knowing where you stand, when nothing that was promised is delivered and no proper closure or goodbyes are said.
Sometimes these experiences bring with them a heartbreak that is so unexpected and so epic that it slingshots us into experiences we never knew possible; experiences of the deepest pain but also experiences of greater heights of awareness, non-judgement and unconditional love than we may have ever known.
When your limit is tested and you are pushed past what you believed you could bear there are only two choices; to become bitter and resentful, or to decide to live in a state of love without condition; to simply love for love’s sake.
This leads to a state of utter freedom that you may not have previously known - a state that can only be reached when there is nowhere else to go!
This song is Bernadette’s attempt to make delicious lemonade out of some very sour lemons. A poignant piece of music that expresses the heart’s longing for clarity and truth and how in their absence, we are given an the opportunity to begin to enter new realms of faith and unconditional love.
Lyrics
I feel like a fool
Most of the time
So many things you said won’t leave my mind
Should I believe the words that were kind?
Or only those cruel parting lines?
How do you sleep at night?
I guess against what’s true
Denial puts up a mean fight
Well, you may never know,
You may never see
You may never know how this has been
‘Cos you won’t talk to me
You lured me in then ran away
Leaving breadcrumbs and little fragments of confusion
In your wake
Justifying that you did it all for our sake
That this wouldn’t be the final scene
And there’d be another take
What’s it like to live a lie?
To be too scared
to look someone in the eye to say goodbye?
Well, you may never know,
You may never see
You may never know how this has been
‘Cos you won’t talk to me
You stood by my bed,
I wanna be friends, you said
But when I opened up my eyes
You weren’t there
We live a second life in my dreams, oh
And I know nothing’s as it seems
Oh, I’ll have faith
I’ll have faith
I’ll have faith
And no matter how long it takes
I will love
I will love for love’s sake
Well, you may never know and never see
What all this means
‘Cos you, you won’t talk to me
And my heart’s in limbo
